Home for the Holidays Blog Hop is underway....
It's always  fun to be involved in the Blog Hops that
Stacy West of Buttermilk Basin plans and organizes!!

If you are new to blog hops WELCOME!!!

Today is day 6 of the blog hop
and I do hope that you are enjoying each day reading the FUN Christmas facts and vintage pictures
that Stacy is sharing on her blog ......then hopping over to  that days featured designer to read what they have to share, checking out their special recipe, and downloading each project for some fun Christmas stitching!!!

Here's a cookie recipe that you can get your
"hands" right into!!!
Growing up my family moved almost every summer and my mom tried to keep things to a minimum    so there was not an abundance of stuff to move all the time. She was not a collector of knickknacks and clutter. But one thing I remember seeing each year come out of the boxes
at Christmas time was a silly little elf.

I am not sure what ever happened to the old thing after the passing of my parents but the tradition seems to be carrying on....

I don't know if you have heard the story of the Elf on the Shelf but it is quite the story....
Each December 1st the Elves comes back from the North Pole to live with a family and watch over them for Santa....The children give the elves names and each morning the elves have moved to a different locations during the night. The kids have so much fun finding their elf and seeing what mischief they might have gotten into......
Our kids have named their elves "Mistletoe" and "Percy".
Here is a picture of Percy hanging out with my old spools!!
Hope he doesn't tangle my threads!!

Last year when I was invited to go to Australia to teach with Gail Pan at her workshops I designed a little elf for the ladies to stitch. I have been saving it to share sometime here in the US and have decided this is the perfect opportunity. The ladies in Australia where so lovely and I have such fun memories with them!! We had approx 140 ladies in two different workshops making elves!!
That's a lot of elves.....and elf parts.....

This little guy has the option of putting wire in his arms
so he can wrap his arms around anything he wants!!
Give him a name and let him watch over your family this Christmas Season!!

You better be good.....He might tell Santa on you.....

I loved reading about Stacy and her Grandmas Gumdrop are a couple of patterns that might be just what you're looking for is you love GUMDROPS!!

Happy October favorite month!!

I love the fall, and October is the month
that it seems to be
in full swing...
the trees changing colors, leaves falling,
the days shorter,
it's back to school, family dinners, pumpkins,
and it's my birthday month!!

As a kid it seemed to me that going trick or treating was
an extension to my birthday.
I was born on October 27th and loved that we all had costumes
picked and were just waiting for the
anticipation to go door to door and get candy!!

The worst thing was the PLASTIC masks we wore with the
elastic string around the back of you head
 pulling at your hair
and the sweat building up between
 your face and the mask!!

Such memories....

One of my favorite memories is of my mom making those
yummy, warm, colorful,sticky popcorn balls
 wrapped in wax paper!!

Today starts the first of several days of the Hall-o-ween Blog Hop
Stacy loves Halloween and has some fun treats for you!!!

FYI...I love Candy Corn!!!
I know you either love it or hate it!!
One time my grandmother bought me a whole brown
grocery bag full of candy corn and left it on
 my front porch for me!!
 Don't you just love grandma's!!
I know I love being one!!

This year the kids have their costumes all picked out!!
Addison is going to be a COWGIRL
Hailey is going to be a TOY SOLDIER
Emma is going to be ELSA
Olivia is going to be a DOCTOR
Lincoln is going to be a PIRATE
and Hazel is going to be a PUMPKIN

Here is a sneak peak at Hailey....I ended up making a Toy Soldier jacket for her....
It's going to be fun!!!

When we got married in 1976
one of our favorite movies was Young Frankenstein!
I can't even say how many times we watched
it but if you have time watch it this October....

So if you made it through all that....
like they say....good things come to those who wait....
My October Blog Hop Project I have to share with you
is this cute little Frankenstein neck pocket.
These are fun and fast to stitch up so you can still make
them before Halloween gets here!!

Oh...and don't forget to tuck a treat inside!!!

Happy Halloween to all of you!!

Welcome to my day to share in the
Farmhouse Threads & Friends
 Harvest Mystery Quilt Blog Hop!!

Thanks to Rhonda
 organizing such a fun project!!
The projects have been amazing!!

Last week Shawn York from The Rusty Crow,
shared her adorable
 Apple Basket Block!!

I think I look forward to the apple harvest the most!!
We have a tradition of taking a drive out the gorge to
Hood River,Oregon and spending time in all the  fruit orchards,
stopping at so many wonderful fruit stands and buying the fresh harvest!!!!

Apples, corn, pumpkins, wheat, and pears,
what garden would be complete
without a friendly scarecrow or two!!

Kathy from Heart to Hand and I are working hard at keeping
those crows away from the harvest!!
She shared an adorable scarecrow a couple of weeks ago!!
So many fields, so many rows,
now you have two cute scarecrows!!
